How to Bypass Google Plus on Youtube to Create Custom Named Channels
My husband recently decided to start a Youtube channel to upload videos of games that he plays online as well as tutorials for various games. After some working around he realized that all his videos were linking to a Google Plus account (that he never wanted to have in the first place) and because of this it was forcing his full real name to be placed on Youtube. He reacted like most normal Americans would and was not remotely pleased about his personal information being spread about the internet. We went on a widespread search of how to fix this but nothing turned up. Then my friend, hereby known as Gigandetsgirl, was able to figure a long way around the Google Plus link that allows users to create a channel with a custom name that skitters around all of the Google Plus fighting entirely. Please follow the below steps and enjoy your custom named channel today.
Click Create Account on Youtube:
This will link you to a new page for Google Plus
The only Important information here is the email and password. These will be your new Youtube accounts email and password. Feel free to bogus in the rest of the information. I would avoid entering a phone number or current email. I have not tested this method using those settings so it may throw your results off. I also unchecked "Google may use this account information....."
Click next, don't worry about a picture. You won't be using this account anyway. Then click the go back to Youtube button on the next page.
Now comes the fun part. On your Youtube page, click your name in the upper right. Then click Settings.
When the new page comes up, click Delete Profile and Remove Associated Google+ features.
On the page that comes up next click Delete Google+ Content and check the bottom checkbox then click Remove selected services.
A box asking why will come up. Feel free to leave a message saying how frustrating this whole process is. I certainly did.
Good news! We are almost done. You have now unlinked your account. Go back to Youtube. Click on your name again. This time click "Youtube Settings".
This should pull your your account overview. Next to your email click "Create a Channel" and the below page will appear.
STOP DONT HIT THAT BUTTON!!!!
<- Clicking OK will make you have to start over. The link you want is much smaller and right below.
Click where it says Create a Username. Once you click this it will prompt you to create a new user name.
And there you have it. Your own Youtube channel without all the hassle of Google+ forcing your real name in the world. I hope you enjoyed this page.
